Florida Friendly Plants are the primary focus of our plant selections at Grassroots Nursery.   A Florida-Friendly Landscape could incorporate both native & non-native plants and is a unique quality landscape this is designed, installed, and maintained according to the nine "Florida-Friend Landscaping" principles.  The nine principles seek to reduce environmental impact from landscaping by properly applying water, fertilizer, and pesticides, creating wildlife habitat, preventing erosion, recyling yard waste, and employing other practices based on University of Florida research. Two helpful books are available from UF/IFAS Extension.  One is a handbook that details the nine principles, and the other is a guide designed for the individual to complete a Florida Friendly design.
